NEVADA MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION WELCOMES YOU
The Nevada Music Teachers Association (NMTA) is an organization of musicians which seeks to: (1) engage the public, (2) sustain the profession, and (3) inspire its members. Devoted to nurturing the musical community and raising the standards of music education throughout the state of Nevada, NMTA provides a variety of activities and events for teachers and students.
NMTA was founded in 1966 and has been affiliated since 1978 with Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), which has a membership of over 20,000 musicians nationwide. NMTA adopts the same values and goals of MTNA, which provides members additional benefits and services.

Conferences
An annual Nevada State Conference is held each year which features guest or NMTA members/artists (and their students) in teaching sessions, panel presentations, master classes and performances. The purpose of this conference is to provide a professional event where teachers and students are engaged and involved in a learning experience that offers new ideas, new teaching techniques, new connections, and new perspectives. NMTA members can also attend the annual MTNA National Conference.
Professional Development
MTNA keeps you up-to-date with current trends in the music industries with two exclusive publications: American Music Teacher—the official journal of MTNA, providing articles, columns and reviews to inform, educate and challenge six times a year and MTNA e-Journal—an online-based journal containing informational articles supplemented with
interactive features and extras.
Educational Opportunities featuring MTNA's preeminent yearly national conference, with workshops and seminars on teaching (including group and recreational music-making), ethics, industry developments and more.
MTNA's popular monthly webinars cover a variety of topics of interest to music teachers, from studio resources to
ornamentation to cybersecurity.
Competitions and Festivals
Students studying with NMTA members may participate in various local, state, and national performance and composition competitions and festivals such as E-festival, Stecher & Horowtiz Two Piano Competition and MTNA competitions. For more information, please see the Upcoming Events section below.
Certification

Local Associations
Membership in this state organization provides the opportunity to join one or more local associations. Each local association provides a full schedule of programs for students and teachers in addition to the benefits of state and national membership. NMTA's two local associations are:
